Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data UK Shortlists may process, why we process it, and what practical choices you have. We keep data collection intentionally limited because this is a shortlist publishing site, not an account-based app.

What we collect

  • Basic technical request data handled by our hosting and delivery providers (for example IP, user agent, and request logs).
  • Aggregated site usage signals where analytics tooling is enabled.
  • No user account profile data, because UK Shortlists does not currently provide user logins.

How data is used

  • To keep the site stable, secure, and operational.
  • To understand content performance at a high level (for example which shortlists are most useful).
  • To improve publishing quality, reliability, and prioritisation of updates.
  • Where advertising is enabled, to support ad delivery and basic ad measurement under provider policies.

We do not sell reader personal data as part of our publishing model.

Advertising providers

UK Shortlists may use Google AdSense or similar providers on selected pages. When enabled, those providers can process technical request data and cookie-like identifiers under their own privacy terms for ad serving, fraud prevention, and reporting.

We configure advertising conservatively and exclude trust-critical and shortlist-heavy areas during controlled rollout. See our Cookie Policy for cookie-specific context.

Affiliate links and third-party sites

UK Shortlists includes affiliate links, including Amazon UK links where relevant. If you click an outbound merchant link, that merchant can process data under its own policies. This privacy policy covers UK Shortlists only, not the independent policies used by Amazon or other external merchants.

Retention and minimisation

We aim to minimise personal data processing and retain only what is needed for site operations, basic analytics, and legitimate publishing administration. Retention periods can vary by service provider and legal obligations.

Your choices

  • You can manage browser settings to block or clear cookies.
  • You can choose not to use outbound merchant links if you do not want third-party tracking from those sites.
  • You can contact us to ask privacy questions or request clarification on how this policy applies.

For cookie specifics, see our Cookie Policy. For affiliate context, see Disclosure & About.
